# What is mistletoe therapy? Mistletoe therapy, also known as mistletoe extract therapy, is a type of complementary and alternative medicine that involves the use of mistletoe extracts as a treatment for various medical conditions.. Mistletoe is believed to have immune-stimulating and anti-cancer properties, and mistletoe extract therapy is sometimes used as an adjuvant therapy in conjunction with conventional cancer treatment to help boost the immune system and potentially improve outcomes. Mistletoe therapy is most commonly used in Europe, particularly in Germany, where it is often prescribed by doctors as a treatment for cancer. ## Matt's notes: This is getting attention in the larger North America institutions and some clinical trials are underway here. Widely used clinically in Europe, they're way ahead of us as usual on this one. It is administered subcutaneously (self injection) or by IV in a clinic. IV is more expensive ($400 / session), self-injection at home is more affordable (~$25 / per). The product I've been using is from a company out of Germany and looks to be a leader in the space. Been in business since 1979 and apparently mistletoe is the most widely used cancer adjunct therapy in all German speaking countries: [Mistletoe Therapy - Helixor](https://helixor.com/mistletoe-therapy/) Chris Beat Cancer's guest Dr. Tims speaking about his clinic's use of mistletoe therapy: <iframe width="360" height="215" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/jGnRQvOLrZ4?start=2148" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> A decent webinar hosted by a woman who started a foundation to fund mistletoe trials in North America.
